UCD Wolfskill Experimental Station

John Reid Wolfskill, settled in the Winters area in 1842 and planted the first commercial orchards and vineyards in the Sacramento Valley.  Today part Wolfskill’s Mexican land-grant ranch is preserved as a UC Davis orchard experiment station where grapevines are cultivated for research.

Our proximity and connection to UC Davis’ prominent Viticulture and Enology department provide Winters with both historical and current context for producing great wines.
