View From the Barrel Rack

We are preparing to bottle and make this year’s wine. It’s time to bottle the 2010 red wines and in a couple weeks we’ll be fermenting 2012 whites. The grapes are past veraison and sugar is moving into the berries. We haven’t started sampling the fruit yet but I know they are getting sweeter because I keep eating them as I walk the vineyard (wine grapes can be very good table fruit). I am pretty sure that the next time you hear from me we will be talking about the beginning of harvest. Can’t wait
