The darling grape of the Rioja region in Spain, cultivated right here in Winters.
A Berryessa Gap classic, the 2013 Tempranillo is a delicious example of the potential of Yolo county and its terroir. Featuring aromas of ripe, dark cherries that lead into rich strawberries with hints of clove, leather and mature rose petals, the wine is complex yet approachable. Subtly oaky, this medium bodied wine is exuberant and fruit forward with moderate tannins and lots of red candied fruit flavors that is well balanced with the characteristic earthiness of the varietal. Dry on the finish with powdery tannins, this wine will pair well with most Spanish foods, pizza, and other tomato based dishes.
