2003 Zinfandel

2003 Zinfandel

If we could have a California State wine variety it would be Zinfandel. Like Petite Sirah, the origin of Zinfandel remained a mystery for many years. Without a historic reputation to restrict creativity, California's winegrowers defined a great wine variety. Our example is classic in the fresh fruit that is so forward in the glass. You may find the brambly fruit almost sexy in its intensity.Production:200 Cases. Release date:September 2005.

2003 Petite Sirah Reserve

2003 Petite Sirah Reserve

Emigrants often had their names altered as they entered our country. This also happened to some winegrape varieties. Petite Sirah is an example of this phenomenon. While the origin of the name Petite Sirah is unknown we now know that this is the same variety know as Durif in France's Rhone region. Unfortunately, Durif has almost vanished from France. Not only was Durif renamed Petite Sirah in California but it was also planted with several other varieties that included Peloursin and Syrah (the genetic parents of Durif) and Zinfandel. We have honored this tradition and planted a mixed Petite Sirah vineyard that includes these varieties. While most blended wines are mixed in the winery, ours is mixed in the vineyard. With its complex flavors and round full finish, the resulting wine is simply stunning and represents a piece of California's wine history.Production:200 Cases.Release date:September 2005.
