93 POINTS + EDITOR'S CHOICE - Wine Enthusiast "This gorgeous, concentrated and warmly tannic wine carries the French name for Petite Sirah. It boasts rich blueberry, espresso and black-pepper flavors wrapped in a mouthcoating texture. Excellent ripeness accompanies good structure for an appetizing balance that demands sip after sip. Editors’ Choice." — Jim Gordon
WINE OF THE WEEK, PaulG On Wine "The winery is all in on Petite Sirah, going so far as to make this Durif (the original French hybrid) as a separate bottling. A multiple gold medal winner, it's sexy and sassy and seductive, with palate-coating raspberry and cherry fruit, tannins as smooth as milk chocolate, supporting acids and a pleasing earthy substratum with a streak of mineral. In short, this is a dense, detailed and delicious bottle at a very good price." - Paul GreguttTASTING NOTES
Rhubarb, plum, and wet stone with hints of cinnamon. Structured with refined tannins and a silky body. Mineral driven finish.
After small-lot fermentation, our 2018 Durif was aged in once and twice used French oak for 16 months. Our Durif is planted on the steepest hillside in our Coble Ranch Vineyard, increasing the flavor concentration in the grapes. This creates a bold flavor profile due to the increased skin to juice ratio which intensifies the tannin structure and color in the finished wine. Made exclusively with the Durif clone of Petite Sirah, this wine is a wonderful expression of the variety, and our terroir.
