2019 Verdejo

2019 Verdejo
Estate Collection

TASTING NOTES
Our Verdejo opens with notes of pears and grapefruit and hints of flowers. Subtle flavors and a sharp, lingering finished make this elegant wine enjoyable and food-friendly while maintaining its complexity.

PRODUCTION NOTES
This Verdejo was mechanically harvested in August of 2019, then sorted and pressed. The juice was then cold-settled for 48 hours before being inoculated with our proprietary yeast blend. After the cold temperature fermentation in small lot stainless steel vessels, the wine was stirred on the lees for 4 months. The wine was then aged for 2 months in an Acacia barrel before being filtered and bottled in March of 2019. Verdejo, a Spanish white grape known for its bright acidity and trademark fruity flavor profile, may have grown in popularity in recent years, but will always hold a special place in the history of our company. Berryessa Gap petitioned the United States government to allow Verdejo to be listed on wine bottles as an approved single variety, a fight which ultimately paid off in 2013. We will be increasing production of Verdejo in the coming years in conjunction with our growing white wine program elegant wine enjoyable and food-friendly while maintaining its complexity.
