NV Gozar! Red Blend
Made from a blend of 39% Tempranillo, 35% Petite Sirah, 18% Zinfandel, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, this medium-bodied table wine is easy to drink, yet flavorful. With prominent flavors of cranberries and spice, complemented by hints of cocoa powder and eucalyptus, this subtly earthy wine is ideal to serve on its own, or paired with simple but boldly-flavored foods such as mushroom ravioli or grilled pork chops.
Our Non-Vintage Gozar! Red Blend was produced from wines made during the 2017 and 2018 vintages. While 2017 was a warm year and produced fruit-forward and light wines, the 2018 wines were bolder and had more structure. When combined, the best qualities of both vintages are highlighted. All of the wines in this blend were cold soaked before being c0- inoculated with several strains of yeast and malolactic bacteria. The fermentations were all in small lots (1 ton of fruit each), at a temperature between 85° and 92° Fahrenheit. During the fermentation manual punch-downs were performed 2 to 3 times per day. After the fermentation was complete, the must was pressed in 5 ton lots using a Spanish basket press. The Tempranillo was aged for a longer time than is traditional in the Rioja style in order to increase the complexity in the finished wine.
